My work is deeply influenced by my childhood in Cornwall, England, where jagged cliffs and wild ocean are imbued with magical folklore and mystery. I knew about mermaids playing in the sea and piskies causing mischief on the land. My imagination was allowed to run free.

Later, in my 20’s living in China, I fell in love with oriental art; I was enchanted by how in a single brush stroke a whole world was created for this reason ink became an essential part of my art. I love to create a contrast between the naive block colours in wax pastels and the delicate fluid details of ink.

My art sits between the whimsical and the naive; capturing the joyful and the fanciful. I hope it raises the spirits of whomever comes across it.
